Interpolation

With sadness in my heart
Sometimes I can tell
How the roses won’t grow any further
They don’t even know their smell —

Let me wait for a moment
                Right here on this place
Where the sea plays with the last trees
Where I can see your delighted face —

This is the very nature
Where it all began
Think about some thousand years ago
God seemed to have a plan —

                What we’ve experienced, what
                We remember about the past
Made us the humans we are today
                But memories won’t last —

We need to break into
The future to make
More experiences, more knowledge, more friends
Because memories are fake —

We only keep the good, we
                Forget about the bad
And so the ugly present time seems real
                Isn’t such thinking sad?

Let’s keep going on together, this
Interpolation did its part
Let us shake off the ugly part of society
With another flying start.

As inspiration for this poem, I listened to “Interpolation” from the Album “Peaceful Piano” by Moritz Limmer & Maxi Schulze (2017). The music can also be used as background music while reading this poem. I think, it fits well. I’d like to hear from you what you think.
