Rule This Place

Tear dropping
Face stopping
To move forward
To the hopes
Of a lost generation
We all feel that devastation sometimes
When it comes to the good old days
We feel lost
When everything out there feels overwhelming
We feel shame
And we are afraid
To tell someone
Even though there are so many people out there
Who feel the same
                We could be strong
Together with a song
On our lips
And other hands upon our hips
                We try to reach
Someone whom we can teach
And form to an image
We always see in our dreams
Even though the other screams
                Leave me alone
I’ll change
When I feel wrong
Until then keep your tongue
To yourself
Put your heart on the shelf
Because it’s not for me
If I’m not your cup of tea
I hope you’re not mine
But sometimes maybe
We could intertwine anyway
With all the other good people in the world
                Truth be told
We’re going to be one again
Somewhere else
                So let’s be kind
And shine
The darkness from our hearts away
Make the smarts
Rule this place
And don’t leave the space
To hate and tears.
