Between Midnight and Dawn

She’s always standing at the corner
Between midnight and dawn
Her thoughts are drifting to noon next week
Always to the future
Any week
Any time but now.

Her mum always told her she found her pretty
School never was much important
While politics always have been insane
Meanwhile politicians are insanely basic
Especially when they try to be funny
Or pretend to be good in bed
In nude state every human is a sinner
And the big heads are even more.

She’s always standing at the corner
Between midnight and dawn
Her thoughts are drifting to noon next week
Always to the future
Any week
Any time but now.

It was long past midnight
When the rain came crawling up her stockings
Waiting at the corner isn’t fun
Waiting never is
Looking pretty under pouring rain isn’t possible
Which man would choose her
Her personality doesn’t matter anyway
Everything that counts is her look
Who would take a wet cat
This isn’t Breakfast at Tiffany’s
It’s just a crossroad past midnight
Long before dawn.

She’s always standing at the corner
Between midnight and dawn
Her thoughts are drifting to noon next week
Always to the future
Any week
Any time but now.
