Leave Me Now and Come Back Later

Don’t we live in a universe
Where worlds collide
Everyday?

Humans are a species
But also individuals
Every one of them
Their own world —

We look into the night sky
See the same stars
Just bright dots in the dark wide universe
All together we see something so simple
Yet every individual sees something different behind —

Every star is its own universe as well
Every individual living there
Doesn’t know about our existence
Or do they?

Could it be true
When we say
If we travel just far enough
Then we will meet ourselves?

Planet Earth is a globe
If we travel far enough here
We will eventually come back
To the place we once started —

If the universe is a globe
Our old saying could be true here as well
We would meet our older selves
On the other side of eternal space
We would tell us face to face
Welcome back
Where have you been in all those years?

And tears might run
From brightened eyes —

In travelling far
Coming back again
We learn to enjoy the little things
That we already had
But wouldn’t appreciate
We were just too used to them —

On the journey home
We’re looking forward to
Being home
Being ourselves again
Throwing the mask away
That we wanted to carry around
Showing ourselves to the world —

But it was the mask
All the time
Not us —

Home is
Where the mask doesn’t fit anymore.
