Don’t You Wait For Being the First In Line

I’m sitting in the line
That is actually a cloud
Waiting
In a waiting room
At the doctor’s —

The doors opened at seven
I was there one minute after
And the waiting hall was fully crowded
Already —

There were
Old people actually
Old women to be precise
They’re all waiting
Not just figuratively
But actually
The old women are waiting

They are just sitting there
Doing nothing
At all —

They’re looking at their shoes
Out of the window
Watching the sun rise
Or looking into their mobile phones
Seeing nothing
At all —

I bet
Every single one of them
Has been living in hope
When they woke up today
Earliest of mornings
That they would be first in line —

At least one day
Being the first in line
At the doctor’s
That’s their only single goal
Left in life —

Some of them
Coming half an hour early
At six thirty
But the first in line
Has been already there —

He’s been already waiting
For half an hour —

Being there at six
With a half an hour tram travel
Starting his journey at half past five
Without breakfast
Of course
He’s here for a blood test
Waking up at five
Leaving home half an hour later —

That’s all you have to do
For being the first in line
Being one hour early
Waiting for one hour
Leaving at quarter past seven
Being home again at eight:
Three hours for a five-minute-appointment —

And what’s the alternative?

Waking up at half past six
Being there one minute past seven
Waiting there for half an hour
Being at work at eight
One and a half hour for a five-minute-appontment —

So, what are you going to do:
Waiting for being the first in line?
Waiting for all the other five-minute-appointments are done?

At the end
It’s all maths and calculations.
