Sonnet #32: Queen

Their time will come for all the beings left
A life enriched through bad and better days
And still it’s feeling like a bitter theft
Throughout she never failed us to amaze
The queen is gone but still we’re here to live
Imagination promises maybe
That someone else with hope is here to give
Some confidence in this absurdity
When royals dare to think they are immune
To modern days with climate change election
Perhaps the people need to set attune
The politics and lay aside affection
The queen is dead but monarchy lives on
The peoples’ vast alternatives are non.
