Song Of the Lost Planet

The pastel-coloured sunset dragged me outside
Made me putting my feet on the balcony
To sit on the warm granite —

There is finally a tolerable heat to enjoy
        The birds yell at me
        As it’s usual these days
During the time of growth and fertility —

I can almost smell the freshness of spring
During the heat of today it’s just a whisper
That barely touches my skin in a surprising breath of wind —

        Light blue slides into
        Light yellow slides into
        Pale orange slides into
        Pale blue —

There is the rhythm of African drums behind the horizon
But the best of all:

        There are no thoughts
        And I don’t miss them
I share all my love for the warm-fresh almost summer evenings
They’re still slowly extending their appearance
        Sunsets last longer
        More time to relax —

                { if there weren’t the sounds of the sirens here }

Earth moving away from the Sun
        And if it continues
Days might become even longer in some regions
In others, there will be an entire night for generations to come —

The heat will disappear eventually
And so will the sunsets
The African drums
The birds
The sirens —

        Yes, even the sirens —

And I
Will sing the song of the lost planet.
