Cooking My Brain

                        Another midnight lies ahead
Could go to bed but instead
I’m writing down my thoughts and prayers
To the hours past and all their layers
Another day of heat on top
                        Another week, it doesn’t stop
I’m just not made for cooking my brain
Could sit inside all day, waiting for rain
                        The weather app had promised
                        Instead, again it wasn’t honest
Aggression on the streets will faster grow
Until Jean-Luc Picard says Don’t make it so
I need to do my work tomorrow
Don’t want another day of sorrow
Should read Thomas Bernhard’s Frost again
I might survive tomorrow’s ride by train.
