I finished 2023 with writing at least one daily piece of text. Most of them were of a poetic style. And a tiny part of them happened to be some kind of lyrics. At least I thought those texts could fit into music.
- Roughing Up song / lyrics
- Denn da ist das Land song / lyrics
- If So, Vertigo song / lyrics
- Bon homme Richard song / lyrics
So, I’m not that talented to create music myself. But I knew about the kind of music they should get. It also happened at the time that I heard of Suno AI, the artificial intelligence app that is able to create music for different moods.
As frightening as it sounds for real musicians; for me and my limited talent for melodies, it is a great playground to experiment on and with. As it is the case with AI and me in general, I become impatient very fast when the AI just doesn’t understand what I’ve got in mind for the specific tasks.
In the case of those four pieces of music, I only got one piece nearly finished. The other three only got the first part of 1 min 20 sec. You are able to add more minutes and you can advice Suno AI to continue the way it ended the previous part. But that just wasn’t the case for Denn da ist das Land and Bon homme Richard. Roughing Up had been my first project and the AI managed to fit the whole text into the 1 min 20 sec time frame.
If So, Vertigo is the only one finished song. It kind of sound like a song of Roger Waters; hell, it even sounds like Roger Waters’ voice. I didn’t advice Suno AI doing that. It just happened that way. And I like it. It just happened sounding like that because I used the phrase epic dramatic suspense to describe the very mood for Suno AI to create the music for my lyrics.
Of cource, the musical quality isn’t the best. It’s basically of the quality of a sub-standard prototype of an audio tape. But for a non-talent in music of myself it gives an idea how it can sound. So, young bands without songs out there, step forward and play those songs if you like, call and invite me to your gigs. I’d like to enjoy listening it live played with real instruments.
I’m still writing. From time to time, there are lyrics emerging from my mind. So, there might be a soundtrack of 2024. Just stay tuned!
