Into the Night

He told her
I recommend the sinner for a thief
He folded up his sleeve
And went away
Into the strangest night
Where every sight
Became a miracle
Just from his look
That he took
And didn’t miss
But a kiss
Was his goal
He sold his soul
To have it easy
Being cheesy
Helped too much
And such
Had been
His beauty queen
By his side
There was nothing to hide
All on the plate
In every state
And all the towns
There were ups and there were downs
But in the end
In his desert tent
He was alone
Who would have known
That she didn’t exist
He never kissed
In his wealthy life
There was no wife
Or a husband
He was accustomed
To the night.
