One often says casually: The hand writes.
But the hand doesn’t write; it only guides the thought.
Who writes is the ink or more generally: the writing fluid, which in turn needs a mediator in order to make visible on a writing material in a coherent form what it is supposed to express, namely the thoughts of the mind of the person to whom the hand belongs.

Man sagt so oft beiläufig dahin: Die Hand schreibt.
Doch die Hand schreibt ja nicht; sie führt nur den Gedanken.
Wer schreibt, ist die Tinte oder allgemeiner: der Schreibstoff, der wiederum einen Mittler benötigt, um auf einem Beschreibstoff in kohärenter Form sichtbar zu machen, was sie ausdrücken soll, nämlich die Gedanken des Kopfes dessen, dem die Hand gehört.
